After completing his studies there, he joined the missionary Diocese of Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh. The diocese then sent him to pursue philosophical and theological studies at the Regional Seminary in Poonamallee, Madras.

During his time at the Sacred Heart Seminary in Poonamallee, Fr. Jose Kaimlett distinguished himself as an exceptional scholar. His dedication and commitment to his studies were evident, and he excelled in his philosophical and theological studies. On April 18th, 1966, he was ordained as a priest.

Timely Reach out by Founding Three Congregations

On his return from Rome in 1981, Fr. Jose devoted his time and energy for the development of his diocese and collaborated most faithfully with Local Ordinary. Being aware of the shortage of priests and religious in the diocese of Eluru and in many other Dioceses of even traditionally catholic countries he founded the Heralds of Good News in 1984, The Missionary Society of Sisters of Good News in 1990 and Missionaries of Compassion in 2003. Over the years these societies have grown rapidly due to the commitment of Fr. Jose Kaimlett and its members; and today missionaries from these societies serve in many dioceses across the globe.

His Legacy

Fr. Jose Kaimlett is truly an inspiring individual who has dedicated his life to serving the poor and marginalized sections of society, particularly in India and Africa. His commitment to providing quality education to those in need has led him to establish numerous schools in remote areas, ensuring that even the most disadvantaged children have access to education.

Recognizing that many children from distant villages face significant challenges in accessing education, Fr. Jose has also built hostels to accommodate these children, enabling them to stay near the schools and receive a proper education. By providing both educational institutions and accommodation facilities, he has created an environment where children from marginalized backgrounds can thrive and break the cycle of poverty.

Fr. Jose’s compassion and concern for the poor and suffering extend beyond education. He has taken steps to address their health and other needs as well. Through his efforts, he has established various healthcare facilities and rehabilitation centers to cater to different aspects of medical care.

The Holy Cross Hospital, Orphanage, and Leprosy Rehabilitation Centre in Nidadavole, the Leprosy Rehabilitation Centre in Sagipad, the General Hospital and T.B. Sanatorium in Gowripatnam, the leprosy rehabilitation centre in Janampet, the Good Samaritan Cancer and General Hospital in Vangayagudem, and the Good Samaritan General Hospital in Msolwa Ujamaa, Tanzania, are remarkable examples of Fr. Jose’s vision to provide comprehensive care to those in need.
